Fresh Homemade Tomato Sauce

Ingredients

  • 5 Beefsteak tomatoes peeled, sans seeds and cut into chunks

  • 1 large jar Mutti Tomato Purée (700g) *The grocery store was out of the Mutti Tomato purée so I made my own with  two small jars of organic tomatoes and pureed them in the blender

  • 4 or more garlic cloves minced

  • 3 shallots diced

  • 2 Tbl Olive oil

  • 1 Tbl fresh rosemary chopped

  • 1 Tbl fresh oregano chopped

  • 1 tsp sage

  • Salt and pepper

  • Herbes de Provence

  • tobacco sauce **optional

Directions

Turn your burner to low - medium heat to sauté olive oil, garlic, and shallots for 1-2 mins while constantly stirring. The more garlic the better in my opinion (just don’t let it burn), giving your sauce a more powerful, and distinctly homemade flavor.

Then add your tomatoes cut into chunks, the tomato purée (coulis) 700g, as well as salt, pepper, herbes de Provence and sage.

Let cook on low for 30mins while stirring occasionally.
Stir in the fresh herbs at the end for a fresh and vibrant herb flavor!
